Wings and Wheels at Van Sant Airport

If you’re like us, you spend a lot of weekends on hot asphalt parking lots looking at other people’s cars. And if we’re being honest, after a while most car shows can start to feel all the same. But throw in vintage airplanes, grass runways, and hangars filled with motorcycles and suddenly things look a lot more interesting. That was the vibe at the Wings and Wheels show at Van Sant Airport in southeastern Pennsylvania this Memorial Day weekend.

There are other such “wings and wheels” events, but the rolling countryside of Bucks County, PA makes this one special. This area is also rich with a wealth of unique automotive enthusiasts. Local rides range from classic street rods to modern exotics, and everything in between.

The event itself is not new, having been around for most of the last decade. However, this year saw an explosion in show cars and visitors alike. Several hundred cars, trucks, and motorcycles packed the grounds of the small airfield, representing a full spectrum of the area’s motoring community. The grounds crew found themselves mowing adjacent fields to make additional parking space as the event was in full swing.
