The Top Tools For Paintless Dent Repair

Dents in your car can be a big problem and greatly detract from the vehicle. Contrary to popular belief a lot of dents can be repaired without a trip to the body shop and expensive repair bills. We’ve decided to put together our list of top DIY Paintless Dent Repair Tools that will help bring your ride back to glass smooth body panels!

  1. Eastwood Paintless Dent Removal DIY Kit- The first thing you should invest in is a DIY kit that is specially made for removing dents without harming paint. The Eastwood basic kit comes with the crucial PDR items you need to have for dent repair at home. Special glue gun and sticks apply the adhesive to the pull-buttons that you can pull on the dent with using the included puller or a slide hammer. Once you have the dent removed you simply use denatured alcohol to remove the button and a plastic scraper to remove the left over glue. This is the main items and process you will use on most common dents and can easily get you to 90% repaired dents.
  2. PDR Suction Cup- No this isn’t a James Bond movie prop! A vacuum suction cup can create an incredible bond on a clean body panel and you can avoid using any adhesives at all. Simply lock the suction cup in place and use the handle/straps to give it a tug. The Eastwood PDR Suction Cup can hold up to 66 pounds of force and can remove most shallow/large dents with no adhesive or special tools!
  3. PDR Line Board- If you want to step up your game and get dents removed 100% and really dial in the finish you will need some accessories to help aid your naked eye. The PDR Line board suctions cups ahead of the area you’re working and puts a reflection on the panel of the lines on the board. If you see distortion in the reflection of those lines that area needs some more work as there is still an imperfection. This is the same as the pros use and allows you take the repair to the next level!
  4. PDR Wedges and Burnishers- Another set of tools to really perfect a PDR repair is a set of wedges and burnishers. The wedges are used to put behind a panel and use leverage to push out low spots carefully. They can also be tapped into a hidden or boxed in area to force a panel or low spot up. Burnishers are used to do the opposite and knock high spots down. Use these with a light, controllable hammer and carefully tap down on the center of a high spot to bring it level with the surface. These are made of a special polymer that won’t scar the paint or metal while still being able to be tapped on with a light hammer. We suggest coupling these with a line board for best results.
