First of all, if you’re rebuilding an old car, whether it’s a full blown 100 point restoration, or an out-of-this-world kustom, you shouldn’t forget about completely redoing the brakes on your ride. Brakes are one of the most overlooked part of a build that can save your car and your life. Project Pile House is a full blown custom with little to be left original on the truck. It sits on a first generation Chevy S10 chassis, so the brake components on each corner are easy to get replacements for, but that’s about where it stops being easy. I recently decided to plumb the brake system on Pile House, and show you what goes into a project like this.

We have a Brake Pedal and The Firewall Becomes Three Dimensional
In the last update I was working on cutting out metal to make the firewall and mocking up my new brake pedal setup from Speedway. Since then I’ve been pretty busy making something from nothing. I had to initially tackle how I was going to mount the brake booster and […]
An Electric Restoration- Part 3 Putting Some Color on the Body
Since the last time we checked in with Wayne he has turned his attention to the body work and paint on his Chevy S10 electric restoration project. Luckily Wayne spent the time to find a rust-free and nearly dent-free base for this project, so with a little sanding and minor […]
Firewall Fabrication and Some Packard Donor Parts
Now that we’re starting to settle into our new workshop and photo/video studio here at the Eastwood headquarters, I’ve been able to turn my attention back to making progress on Project Pile House. At this point the truck has the silhouette that I’ve been envisioning, but it just needs a […]
Building Door Frames to Match the Chop
It’s been a while since we talked about the roof chop on Pilehouse, but I’ve been doing a lot of boring work on the smashed up old roof getting it satisfactory. Since then I decided to finally finish building the doors to match the roof. I took some pictures as […]
An Electric Restoration- Part 2 Installing an Electric V8 Killer.
Since our last update Wayne of Electric Blue has been busy finishing up the suspension and brakes on the S10 Chassis. He finished off the rear, front suspension and brakes with the help of more Eastwood detail paints. With the chassis all buttoned up Wayne moved on to the heart […]
An Electric Restoration- Electric Blue Restores a Chevy S10
Wayne of Electric Blue isn’t a bandwagon kind of guy. He didn’t buy a Prius and fill it with stickers to shout how environmentally conscious he is. Wayne’s interest in electric conversions and environmentally friendly vehicles goes back to the first oil embargo in 1974. As with anything, he began by […]
Building Bumper Brackets To Take Abuse
I must admit that when it comes to my projects I have A.D.D, especially one as large as Pile House. Sometimes life gets in the way or we have other projects going at Eastwood (like our Project Resolution Mustang), that I can only devote small amounts of time or maybe […]
Straightening the Heavily Dented Roof- Eastwood MIG Stud Weld Kit
Pilehouse didn’t live a charmed life, it was used and abused as a farm truck, then sat for many years in the woods. Mother Nature has really left her mark on the truck. From the scratches and scrapes, to HUGE dents and smashed in sections, some would say I’m a […]
