Pottstown Shines in the Glow of L’oe Show 2024

For the third year in a row, Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche enthusiasts have transformed downtown Pottstown, PA into a festival city. Just a mile or so from Eastwood’s headquarters, the L’oe Show demonstrated the true power of community in automotive culture. From all across the United States and from points as far as Africa, Europe, and South America, thousands of participants and visitors alike flocked to the city once regarded as America’s Cruising Capital.

The brainchild of Pottstown resident and business owner Jamie Orr, the VW-centric L’oe Shoe took over nearly half more than a quarter mile of the downtown business district and converted vacant storefronts into pop-up stores for show vendors and sponsors.

The focus of this year’s event was the 50th anniversary of Volkswagen’s game-changing Golf model. At the center of the show, Orr constructed a themed display made up of three shipping containers stacked and arranged to show off a hand-selected array of significant examples from the model’s five-decade run. Among them, an original 1974 model and the groundbreaking 1984 Rabbit GTI.

A new feature this year was the city park takeover by major sponsor FCP Euro. Not only did their display contain an unbelievable mix of cars, the company also set up lounge chairs on the lawn and had live musicians performing.

A Festival Weekend with Many Events

The Sunday main event was the downtown show on the first of September in which 750 cars registered to show. However, enthusiasts arrived several days in advance to gather informally and take advantage of other pre-show events in the area. Among the stops was a Saturday afternoon gathering at Eastwood’s HQ, where more than 100 cars showed up to check out tools and equipment at the retail store. Visitors also enjoyed touring the Eastwood Garage video studio and workshop, checking out projects and taking selfies on the set.

A bit of rain never stopped a VW event, and L’oe Show was no exception

A bit of midday rain failed to dampen spirits or activities a bit. A short shower brought out the umbrellas, but the sun was soon back and the show went on as if nothing ever happened. We can’t wait to see what L’ow Show 2025 brings.
