Mark’s Trans Am – Episode 9: Adding Heat and Sound Protection to the Bare Shell

With the Trans Am project moving along, Mark decided it was time to move the body shell off the custom tilt rig he built for it. In this episode, he transfers it to a traditional body cart, where it will be more accessible and better supported to continue his work.

At this stage, he’ll be installing Eastwood’s X-Mat as a heat and sound barrier to the floor areas. Before he does that, however, he fabricates some body plugs to fill the factory openings in the floor panels. You can hear why he chose to fabricate these out of aluminum instead of steel, then watch him lay down the X-Mat, which is alway satisfying to see.
