Forget the golf course… look at these gorgeous classic cars!

Even if your name’s not Tiger, you’ve surely heard of the famous Pebble Beach Golf Resort that overlooks the Pacific near Carmel, California. But you may not have known that for one day a year—August 19 this year— the 18th hole, often called the “best finishing hole in golf”, is transformed into the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

I think it was mighty nice of the organizers to name this high-end car show after Eastwood’s own Concours paint guns! But seriously, this is one of the most beautiful and competitive collector car shows in the automotive world.

Now I’m not suggesting that these classic car owners are the ones who actually put in the “sweat equity” to get these cars looking so gorgeous, but anyone who appreciates the factory-new look of a just-restored vehicle will certainly appreciate the dazzling stars of this show.

Originally a small social event paired with a road race through the pine and cypress forests of Pebble Beach, the Pebble Beach Concours has become one of the top collector car events in the world. Owners compete to have their classic named “Best of Show”…others come simply to enjoy the spectacle. The Concours is not a contest of speed, but of excellence. Automobiles and motorcycles are judged for their historical accuracy, their technical merit, and their style—and the best garner reward and recognition. Something to think about as you work on your project vehicle…well, you can dream!

I know you want to see pictures, so be sure to check out these award winners from the last 60 years.
