Eastwood Rust Encapsulator Platinum

Eastwood has been selling Rust Encapsulator for an extremely long time with huge success in terms of how well the product works to how satisfied our customers are.  Since we never stop at good enough it was time to push ourselves.  Our original Encapsulator will pass 500 hours in the salt spray chamber and is UV stable.  But why stop there.  Our Brand new for August 2018 will be Eastwood Rust Encapsulator Platinum.  This urethane based moisture cure product has 3 times more corrosion protection than our original.   This brand new coating will pass 1500 hours in the same salt spray chamber and ,due to the aluminum pigmented finish, is also UV resistant.  Think of how many uses for this product with its 350F heat resistance!!!

Application hasn’t changed to keep it simple.  All that needs to be done is a mechanical scuff to knock off all the loose rust, corrosion, and general gunk build up you would find on old rusty parts. This can be as simple as running a wire brush by hand or better yet grab our Contour SCT with a Scale Stripping drum to let a 9 amp motor do the work.

Once the frame is cleaned up now comes the time to use our Pre Painting Prep to get rid of surface contamination.   Since even your skin oils can throw off a paint job make sure to wear latex or nitrile style gloves while completing this step.

Application method is completely up to you.  Brush, roll or spray this amazing product to protect your investment from future rust.   For this or any product to help you complete your next project visit Eastwood.com.

  1. G’day guys..I was watching Matt Murray on his Iron Trap Garage YouTube channel use the spray on red oxide Rust Encapsulator and I saw that it looked like he was doing plug welds directly onto the primer coated panels.

Is Rust Encapsulator a weldable primer as I have panels that can have the spot welds cut to separate the two peices, cleaned and primed and then welded back together but you have to clean the mating surface for a good welding bond leaving that part open to Rust in the future.

So is Rust Encapsulator a weld through / weldable primer and is all versions of the product weldable or only the base level red oxide version? Thank you from Australia guys, hurry up and sell your products direct here in Australia.
