With the floor pans made up I decided to move outwards and tackle the rust in the door openings. The truck door sill on the drivers side was rotted away and the front of the door opening/jamb was rotted pretty bad. In fact the lower portion was almost non existent.
Project Cars & Trucks
Project Resolution- Phase Six
We decided to replace the entire front clip after too many nasty accident damage surprises. The crew stripped the donor clip down using our stripping discs and our 100lb Pressure Blaster. Once the new nose for Resolution was cleaned, I took the reciprocating saw and began surgery.
Project Resolution Phase V
Since we last checked in with Project Resolution we had a lot of goals and plans of action on how we were going to repair and restore the car. Since then, things have changed quite a bit! Sometimes we think this should be called “Project Surprise”! We’re constantly finding that the car has a lot of hidden damage and surprises that are much worse than initially anticipated.
Building A Custom Steering Column for Project Pile House
Now that the custom firewall was welded into Pile House I could work on making the truck finally steer from inside the cab. This is one big step to making Pile House an actual vehicle rather than a piece of “garage art”. Pile House (like many hot rod and customs) […]
Welding the custom firewall and making a custom transmission tunnel
In the last update I had finally made the firewall a 3 dimensional part and I could almost see the light at the end of the tunnel for this part of the project. Since then I’ve decided it would be a good time to tackle the first part of the […]
We have a Brake Pedal and The Firewall Becomes Three Dimensional
In the last update I was working on cutting out metal to make the firewall and mocking up my new brake pedal setup from Speedway. Since then I’ve been pretty busy making something from nothing. I had to initially tackle how I was going to mount the brake booster and […]
Project Resolution- Paint Stripping and Final Teardown
We’ve been working on Project Resolution now for a few months and we’re finally at a point where we are ready to start going uphill making the car nice again. With the front end removed I was able to remove the inner fender “skirt” and assess the damage that was […]
Forming The Firewall and Gathering Steering and Braking Parts
After getting the old swiss cheese firewall removed from the truck I started making the new firewall for Project Pile House. I started by having one of our tech advisors Sean help me make a cardboard pattern. Once the pattern was made we scribed out the shape onto our metal […]
Firewall Fabrication and Some Packard Donor Parts
Now that we’re starting to settle into our new workshop and photo/video studio here at the Eastwood headquarters, I’ve been able to turn my attention back to making progress on Project Pile House. At this point the truck has the silhouette that I’ve been envisioning, but it just needs a […]
