In the automotive world there’s a few events you can always count on being the hotbed of “what’s cool” in the hobby. The one we always look forward to is right around the end of October or Early November and that’s the SEMA Show. Eastwood Company has been attending SEMA since our early days and we’ve watched it grow each year. The 2013 SEMA Show is no different and this year it’s almost outgrown the HUGE space it takes up at the Las Vegas Convention Center. This year I’ve heard rumors that the show has spilled out into the parking lot and halls of the adjacent Las Vegas Hotel. This means there will be more top-notch show vehicles, new products, and gear heads like you and I then before!

West Coast Report — 32nd Edition by John Gilbert
It was the “Psychedelic 60s” and my friends, and I were active members of America’s disaffected mobile youth. I’ve been heading out on the road since before I had a drivers license. I didn’t drive illegally, a group of three, or four of us would all pile in with whoever had a drivers license, owned wheels, and we’d get out on the highway. Sometimes the vehicle of choice would blowup only a few miles out of town, and we’d have to commandeer a plan B mode of transportation.
West Coast Report 33rd Edition by John Gilbert
Wow, finishing up the Hot Rod to Hell in time to leave for the SEMA show in Las Vegas, November 4, and maintaining a punctual publishing schedule for the West Coast Report has been just a little tough. Of course those are not the only things I’ve had to deal with during this period of time. There’s been a ton of magazine features to write for American Truck, Classic Trucks, and Custom Classic Trucks. Did I ever mention that I work for a few different truck magazines? Speaking of mentioned, did I in past reports bring up the maiden run for the ’27 Ford track T has been switched from Hell, Michigan to Las Vegas, Nevada? I still intend to drive the car to Hell, but the SEMA show is something I can’t miss. I’ve been going to SEMA since it was held in Anaheim, California, and its offices were in a bank building in El Monte, CA. Gee, that was a long time ago.
Building a Fuel Cell Cradle and Feeding Pile House with Fuel
Lately I’ve changed gears on Pile House and I’ve decided to start working on getting Pile House moving under its own power. I decided to order up a plastic fuel cell from Jegs first. Once I began test fitting it at a few different spots on the chassis it was obvious that the only place I could fit it under the bed was behind the rear axle.
‘Shop Talk’ Podcast – Episode 16: SEMA Prep with Eastwood Insiders
In this episode of Eastwood’s ‘Shop Talk,’ Kevin Tetz chats with Joe Mountz and Matt Murray: two members of the Eastwood Team as they prepare for SEMA, the biggest industry event of the year.
Eastwood’s slogan is ‘Do The Job Right’, which is exactly what they intend to do at this year’s SEMA Show.

West Coast Report 31st Edition by John Gilbert
The phone rang and there was a pretty little female voice at the other end — “Hi are you John Gilbert, this is Christy from Infiniti, and we have your QX50 ready for a test drive.”
Packard Institute restoring old car to restore lost souls
A recent Akron Beacon Journal article showed us how automotive restoration projects can be a bridge to a more productive life for troubled youngsters. In some ways, the 1948 Packard Victoria Convertible is a metaphor for the kids who will be restoring it: a treasure hiding beneath the visible dings […]
How to Install an Aftermarket Shifter on a Chevy V8 and TH350.
When building Project Pile House I’ve pretty much discarded all of the original mechanics and I’ve been building from the ground up. I’ve already installed a SBC (small block Chevy V8) engine and a TH350 automatic transmission in the truck. Next I needed to install a universal shifter that would work with the changes I’ve made and look “right”.
