2014 Street Rodder Road Tour Car and Eastwood Summer Classic Date Announced

IMG_1875

2014 marks the fourth year of the annual Eastwood Summer Classic show and shine. Each year we open our grounds for enthusiasts to come and show off their rides here at Eastwood Headquarters. It’s also become a tradition and an official stop for the east coast leg of the Street Rodder Road Tour. Each year Street Rodder Magazine has one of the top hot rod and custom shops in the country put together a new car for them to tour the country with. We’re honored that these shops use Eastwood tools and supplies to restore and customize the car each year and we’re always excited to see what they do!

In previous years the east coast leg of the tour was kicked off at the Eastwood Summer Classic and ended at the Syracuse Nationals Street Rod Show. This year the Eastwood East Coast Leg of the Street Rodder Road Tour will be culminating AT the Eastwood Summer Classic! This will give anyone up north a chance to join the tour and come south to visit us at Eastwood. This also means the show is now a week later than previous years. Mark your calendars for Saturday July 26th 2014 for the Eastwood Summer Classic this year, it’s going to be our largest event yet with things to do all weekend! As the event nears we’ll start releasing more details, including appearances, feature cars, special Eastwood show sales, and more!

The other big anticipation for the Road Tour and the Summer Classic is exactly what car tour leader Jerry Dixey will be cruising the country in. The build is usually pretty hush-hush until it hits the tour and magazine, but we’ve managed to get some spy photos from the crew at Street Rodder Magazine. The base car this year is a 1959 Chevy “Bubbletop” Impala. The car is being built by Road Tour veterans Hot Rods By Dean. They plan to give the car a mild custom look with high performance underpinnings that will make the car handle well (as well as big Impala can!), and ride like a Cadillac. The car is due to have a 550+HP Chevy LS Big Block with a Roadster Shop chassis underneath. It’s safe to bet that this will be one of the best performing ’59 Impalas on the road when they’re done! We can’t wait to see the car in person when it’s done and just like last year we plan to get you some good footage of the car and a ride along in it with Jerry Dixey! Check out our ride along from 2013 in the Shoebox Ford by Honest Charley Garage HERE.
